Key Values

Carroll County is a great place to live. Building on this strong foundation, let’s make a Carroll where all can learn, live, and thrive.

Learn – Ensure strong public schools and lifelong education opportunities for all

  • Carroll County has maintained consistently strong public schools, but the strain of underfunded schools is threatening the stability of our system.
  • Education needs to be a top budget priority to best serve our teachers, our schools, and our communities. When we fund our teachers and schools properly, we build stronger classrooms, more stable schools, and a better learning environment for all.
  • The school buildings themselves are cornerstone resources in our communities, and their maintenance and improvement need to be treated as such.
  • I am supportive of ways we can make early childhood education and school age enrichment offerings more affordable and accessible.
  • All adults, regardless of age and stage of life, should have learning resources and opportunities available to them.
  • We need to support and develop our already excellent libraries. They serve as important community hubs with opportunities for engagement throughout the county.

Live – Improve community affordability, livability, and economic opportunity in Carroll County

  • Careful and sustainable planning are key to supporting both residential affordability and continued business investment in our communities.
  • Aim to build a strong local economy with work that can that support residents.
  • Strong infrastructure makes our county more livable. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Neighborhoods and streets that are safe and accessible,
    • Stable utilities that can meet the community needs
    • Available programs that lift up those who need it in our communities but are not difficult to navigate, and,
    • Available and accessible health services for residents.

Thrive – Invest in people, spaces, and programs to create community and belonging

  • I will be a voice for Carroll to further invest in spaces and programs that bring people together to reduce isolation, increase engagement, and build opportunities for community investment.
  • As a rural county, we are justifiably proud of our open spaces.  However, public access to recreational spaces has not kept pace with development, particularly in the Freedom District. I will advocate for expanding and improving access to green spaces and recreational opportunities for all county residents.
  • Seek to ensure both the long-term viability of our county’s agriculture and current profitability for farmers.

Whether you are a lifelong resident of the county or a transplant, we all want this to continue to be a place where individuals and communities thrive.
